Supreme Court Bans Execution for Child Rapists

Postby T on Fri Jun 27, 2008 6:26 pm

So I'm sure we've all heard of this. What do you think of this ruling?

At first I was annoyed how this implies that the rape of a child isn't as bad as death. Some things are far worse than death and I would think jacking a child's innocence and traumatizing them like this is certainly cruel. I do think that the death penalty is fitting.

But at the same time, I can understand why they didn't allow for it. What they don't make public about the "liberal's" decision was the high rate of false rape allegations. False rape allegations are ridiculously high so it'd be horrible for many innocent men to die for it.

Now I'd be cool if they allowed the death penalty so as long as the definition of child isn't applied to someone that is old enough to lie and hide their age.

I oppose death penalty so, yeah.

I think those who molest children should serve longer sentences as they are psychologically harming them, and we all know that leaves a larger scar than physical harm.
