Do you think that the people's voice should overpower whatever the Supreme Court Justices rule?

For me it does depend on the issue. But for the most part I feel that the justices were given their job for a reason. Just because the majority feels a certain way, it doesn't mean it's morally correct.

If we had a direct democracy, we would probably still have slavery and eventually be under a theocracy.

The SC Justices are there for a reason. Plus we already have protections from the Tyranny of the Majority.

These Justices try hard not to be biased, but they always are, as they are appointed by the President. Plus its a lifetime appointment. G.W. Bush is lucky that he was able to appoint so many judges during his term.

Luckily most of the conservatives acted unbiased and voted in favor of gay marriage in CA. But you're right. Justices can still be biased especially if appointed by the president. Sometimes I wonder what's really right and wrong. Well, aside from the obvious.

Now if only The People would vote against jury duty. I know too many people who get screwed over because of the very subject in this thread: Stupidity.
